Globular Clusters

Globular clusters are massive, spherical collections of tens of thousands to millions of stars tightly bound by gravity. They reside in the outer halos of galaxies, contain some of the oldest known stars in the universe, and are incredibly dense, with star distances as short as one light-year apart.
